ROPED is a romantic drama streaming on Netflix. It begins in the middle of a city council meeting in the small town of Potter Creek. Robert Peterson, one of the town’s councilmen, tells members of the audience why a rodeo coming to town is no good. Robert describes the rodeo as animal abuse and almost demands the town put a stop to it.
It just so happens that a young cowboy, Colton, who’s part of the rodeo, joins the meeting and hears Robert trying to stop the rodeo. Just as Colton starts to get in his car when the meeting ends, he spots Tracy. He’s interested in getting to know her, but Colton doesn’t say anything. Colton also doesn’t know Tracy is the daughter of Robert, the councilman working to run Colton’s rodeo out of town.
At the local diner, Colton finds Tracy sitting with her friends. He takes a seat at the bar and is joined by a young boy named Luke, who just so happens to be Tracy’s little brother. They strike up a friendship. However, when Luke orders a plate of hamburger sliders, Tracy comes over to put a stop to it because her family is vegetarian. Colton and Tracy meet and are clearly intrigued by one another.
Tracy’s boyfriend, Dylan, sees what’s happening and isn’t a fan. Dylan and Colton get into a bit of an argument, which turns into a challenge. Colton challenges Dylan to a race where the rodeo is set to happen. When Colton ends up beating Dylan in the race, the town hears about what happened and is more encouraged to stop the rodeo than ever.
Tracy, though, is more interested in Colton and the rodeo because of the race. As Colton and Luke continue to build their friendship, Tracy works up the courage to break up with Dylan. She reminds him she’s going away to college soon, and they probably would break up anyway. Now, Tracy has full rein to spend time with Colton. However, will the fight over the rodeo at the city council break Colton and Tracy apart or bring them closer together?
ROPED has a strong moral worldview where the rodeo cowboys overcome the Romantic, politically correct, progressive, environmentalist worldview of the townspeople led by Tracy’s vegetarian father. The cowboys show the closed-minded progressives how the cowboys actually take care of and love the rodeo animals. The movie also extols family and thankfulness.
