Hey there, fellow parents! I don't know about you, but as a parent, I am always worried about messing up my kids. I mean, we all want to be great parents, right?
So, I've done everything I can think of to be the best dad I can be. I've read books, gone to therapy, and listened to a ton of podcasts on the subject. But there's one piece of advice that really sticks with me, and it should haunt you too if you're a high-achieving and driven person.
Carl Jung said it best, "The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents." And man, if he saw what some parents are doing these days, he'd have a field day.
I mean, sending kids to hardcore training camps for sports, hiring Mandarin tutors to get them into Ivy Leagues, and networking for that prized Goldman Sachs internship. It's insane!
So, let's all take a step back and ask ourselves this question: are we imposing our unlived lives on our children? It's a tough question, but an important one. Let's not burden our kids with our own unrealized dreams. Instead, let's encourage them to live their own lives to the fullest.
