Here, we have the long-awaited couple who might have bonded over their long necks. Bea, the 3-year-old giraffe, and Wilma the 10-year ostrich grew up on the Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay. And if you ask the zookeepers, they’ll tell you they’re madly in love. The exhibit is filled with other animals like zebras, rhinos, and even elephants, but these two who grew up together and were raised on the same hounds have taken a liking for each other and each other only. Coincidentally, giraffes and ostriches are naturally curious animals. And when they’re together not only do they explore the park together but also like to check each other out. This definitely looks like the cupid’s work!
Lammie, Gertjie And Matimba
Gertjie the Hippo was born during a very stressful time. In 2014, when the Rhino poaching statistics had reached their peak, Gertjie’s mother was brutally killed right in front of him. And the poor 3-month-old rhino calf had to fend for himself. However, he was one of the “lucky” ones and was brought into the HESC for protection. There Gertjie found a family of his own.
The brave hippo met his famous side sick, Lammie the sheep, and another orphaned rhino named Matimba! Matimba had suffered the same fate, and both the rhinos instantly understood each other’s past. That’s when their friendship blossomed. Matimba, being the introvert he is, stayed away from humans and stuck to his two friends. Their unusual but meaningful relationship took the internet by storm, and we can easily understand why.
